Today I am going to talk about heat rejection with solar shades and how the openness affects it.

So to start with, solar shades definitely help with rejecting heat and therefor they can help in lowering your energy bills. However, the amount of heat you reject with a solar shade directly depends on the openness of the solar shade.

What do I mean when I say openness? This refers to the fabric density or openness which affects the amount of UV and glare protection, as well as the clarity of view and the heat rejection of the solar shade. The higher the openness the less dense the fabric is which means you’ll reject less heat. However, the opposite is also true. The lower the openness the more dense the fabric and the greater the heat rejection will be.

A lot of times people wonder if they will be able to see through the solar shade. Again it depends on the openness of the solar shade. The higher percentage of openness, the more you will be able to see through the shade. The lower the openness the less you will be able to see through it. You can go to our photo gallery page to see the differences of openness. Our fabrics come between 3% and 10% openness.
