How Does Window Tint Stick To Your Windows?
There are many different types of patented adhesive formulas that window filming companies have developed. They are quite often called mounting adhesives.
Usually no matter what type of adhesive the window film has, the installation process is the same. Typically window tints are installed by spraying the window with a special soapy formula, the window tint is then applied to the window. Once the window film has been cut to fit the window, a special tool is used to push out as much of the formula as possible. There will still be a small amount of the formula behind the window film, but don’t worry this will evaporate within 1-3 months, depending on the heat outside and where the window is positioned in your house or office.
A word of caution though, just because most window tints are applied the same, there can be a huge difference in the quality of the adhesive. Some adhesives can break down almost as soon as you put the film on your window. The better adhesives, can last a lifetime, literally. The clear distortion free adhesive (CDF) that Vista Window Tint uses is one of the best on the market. It has not had a single failure in almost 40 years!
